Concussion Awareness

On May 19, 2011, Governor O’Malley signed into law “Education—Public Schools and Youth Sports Programs—Concussions” to protect the state’s studentathletes from the dangers of a concussion—a medical condition which can cause permanent harm. This law applies to youth sports programs organized for recreational athletic competition or instruction for participants under the age of 19.

Future Soccer Club takes the safety and well being of our players seriously. All coaches are required to complete Centers for Disease Control (CDC) "Heads Up" training and certification to ensure they know the signs of a concussion and the proper procedures to follow once a player is suspected of incurring a concussion. All players and parents/guardians must review and sign the FSC Concussion Fact Sheet before a player is allowed to step on the field.

There are numerous additional resources available online that provide excellent information on concussions and traumatic brain injuries. Click the following link to learn more: http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/index.html.
Take time to get to know the signs.
